What is God's veiwpoint of Abortion?

How should the Source of human life affect our view of the matter of abortion? Consider:

Acts 17:28- "By him (God) we have life and move and exist."
Ps 36:9- "With you (God) is the source of life."
Romans 14:12- "Each of us will render an account for himself to God."
Does Jehovah view the life of a child as precious even during the very early stages of development after conception?

Ps. 139:13-16- You (Jehovah) kept me screened off in the belly of my mother ... Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing."

Has God ever stated that a person would be called to account for injury to an unborn child?

Ex. 21:22, 23- "In case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children do come out but no fatal accident occurs, he is to have damages imposed upon him with out fail according to what the owner of the woman may lay upon him; and he must give it through the justices. But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul."

How serious is the willful taking of a human life for a reason not authorized by God?

Gen 9:6- "Anyone shedding man's blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God's image he made man."
1 John 3:15- " No manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him."
Ex 20:13- "You must not murder."

Does a doctor's opinion that allowing a pregnancy to go full term would be harmful to the health of the mother justify an abortion?
Medical opinions are sometimes wrong. Would it be right to kill a fellow human because that one might harm his fellowman? If at the time of childbirth a choice must be made between the life of the mother and that of the child, it is up to the individuals concerned to make that choice. However, advances in medical procedures in many lands have made this situation very rare.

This issue of abortion is not a new one. Have people voting in the past helped do away with abortions? Unfortunately no. Remember, part of the sign of our living in the last days is that "...because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off." Matt 24:12. Yes, these last days are "Critical times hard to deal with...For men will be lovers of themselves....having no natural affection" 12 Tim 3:1-3.

We may find ourselves asking as the faithful prophet Habakkuk asked, "How long, O Jehovah, must I cry for help...How long shall I call to you for aid from violence... Why is it that you make me see what is hurtful, and you keep looking upon mere trouble? And why are despoiling and violence in front of me, and why does quarreling occur, and why is strife carried? Therefore law grows numb, and justice never goes forth. Because the wicked one is surrounding the righteous one, for that reason justice goes forth crooked." Habakkuk 1:1-4.

Does that mean we must endure this wicked act forever? No! It pains our Heavenly Father to see such heartless acts. In His wisdom He will act in due time. "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Ps 37:10 & 11)

By means of God's Kingdom government these prophecies will come true. We cannot force people to love Jehovah's standards. However, we may be able to reach hearts of individuals .

May this post be of encouragement to all who love life and hold it as a sacred gift from our heavenly father, Jehovah.

i agree with you...we are more productive in changing the hearts of men/women than forcing....
that being said...i still hope to live in a country where human life is valued, and I will do what i can to promote this cause. -which really isn't very much,- i feel; because again, back to the beginning as stated....we are more productive changing thehearts of man and we are trying to any who wil listen, that's for sure!

Love the insight and agree with what is said, especially about modern medicine. I personally have never heard of, know anyone, etc personally whose pregnancy could have cost the life of the mother. Not to say it doesn't happen but it is incredibly rare these days and if that should occur it is up to that person or couple to receive revelation regarding what to do.

For if God is with us, who can be against us?
